It all started with a simple soap — a product designed to fulfil a basic daily need, but in the case of Original Health Skincare Soap a product that was particularly good at maintaining skin in a soft, natural state — even for those suffering from a variety of skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis, acne and dermatitis.

The benefits of the soap were put down to the lack of irritating ingredients such as perfume and colouring, so when we saw how popular the product was becoming we decided to examine other personal care products to see if we could achieve the same success by removing undesirable ingredients.

The more we looked into modern products the more we believed that many allergies, sensitivities and skin complaints are caused by the ingredients of modern life. We are already witnessing people’s increasing desire for a more healthy diet and here at Original Health Products we are advocating that you not only look at what you put in your body but also take care of what you put on your body. After all, recent research is now telling us that some 60% of what you put on your skin goes in! When you realise what is in some everyday products such as shampoos, shower gels and moisturising creams — that is a worrying statistic.

At Original Health Products we challenge our manufacturers to find new ways and more natural ways of producing effective personal care products. For us, the ultimate test is that if we are not happy to use the products on our children, then we won’t produce it — we won’t add a new product to our range until we are satisfied that we have a formula that is effective yet at the same time safe enough to use on the most delicate members of our family.
